We now enter a new Liturgical Year and approach the 100th anniversary of the Apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima. Now is the perfect time to prepare our souls! There are many preparations for Christmas and the retailers offer many opportunities for shopping but the most important thing we can do, one that aims for the gift of eternal life, is to prepare our souls to welcome once again, to meditate once again, on the incredible Incarnation of Christ our Lord. He, the Divine Mercy, will place Himself at the mercy of His creatures when He is born a little baby in Bethlehem. And how appropriate to be born in the town that also means “house of bread” for even today, Jesus the Lord is at the mercy of His creatures when He comes to us in the most Holy Eucharist, the Blessed Sacrament.
Let us make this Advent the best ever! May we cleanse our souls in the Sacrament of Confession so as to receive Our Lord in Holy Communion with a pure heart and soul. We can encourage our families to do the same. Can we go to some daily Masses? Perhaps we can make a weekly holy hour of adoration (and continue these things into the new year)?
Advent is a perfect time to take a good look at our spiritual lives. Are we where we would like to be? Are we ready to meet the Lord? The Lord is near! May all souls generously prepare the way with love in their hearts and with all hope. Our Blessed Mother will gladly be our heavenly aid.
