Fr. Alan explains that the “communion of the saints” involves the whole Church – in heaven, in purgatory, and on earth – and that today’s celebration reminds us of our membership in the illustrious body of Saints. That said, we shouldn’t be complacent or think we can simply coast into heaven. We have to imitate those known saints, exemplars honored by the Church, above all in their virtuous disposition to cooperate with God’s grace.
