Sep 18 – Homily – Bp. da Cunha – Good Stewards for the Total Person
Views 1146
The Most Reverend Edgar da Cunha, Bishop of Fall River, observed the annual New Bedford custom of the Feast of Our Lady of Good Voyage, with a Holy Mass at Our Lady’s Chapel. He reflected on the gospel theme of stewardship, how we are all called to be good stewards of the gifts with which God has blessed us. In particular, he spoke of the need to use our gifts to help others--corporally and spiritually. Even if we are only able to help just one other person, we will contribute to the alleviation of the vast suffering in today’s world. Bishop da Cunha also spoke of Our Lady of Good Voyage, patroness of fishermen (thus the local devotion)—she is our protector who through her intercession aids us in the journey of this life and brings us closer to her Son.
