Elias preaches on the need to ask this saint's intercession for the curing of physical ailments of the throat as is done so commonly on this day. But, he makes the further connection that it is not just physical, but spiritual ailments of the throat that we must beware of, in the words that we utter from our throats. These can do us far more harm, so let us ask St. Blaise's intercession for the grace to use our healthy throats to give honor to God.
