Jan 26 – Homily – Fr Matthias: Desiring a Noble Task
Views 1707
Homily #150126n ( 08min) Play - Father tells us that, as St. Paul tells St. Timothy in 1 Tim. 3:1, "whoever aspires to the office of bishop desires a noble task." However, he is not speaking of the honor of being a bishop, but of the high level of responsibility, the great personal cost, and the promise of suffering and persecution. We must remember that in those times, and today in many places of the world, to be a bishop is to be a martyr, for persecutions start by striking at the hierarchy of the Church. We must pray for our bishops that they be faithful to their noble task, even at the cost of their own blood.
