Views 1725

Homily #141015n ( 12min) Play - On the memorial of the Doctor of Prayer, St. Teresa of Avila, Father Matthias comments on some texts from the Magisterium about authentic Christian forms of prayer. He emphasizes that "Christian prayer is always determined by the structure of the Christian faith, in which the very truth of God and creature shines forth (Some Aspects of Christian Meditation, CDF, 1989)" and that we must beware of unknowingly committing ourselves to another religion by using prayer techniques which implicitly deny a transcendent, personal God. Concluding, Father reminds us that the love of and union with God are not acquired by a method and technique, but through the intimate, loving encounter of the soul with its creator.
