Homily #130918 ( 06min) Play - Known for floating up into the air at even the mention or sight of a holy object and other countless miracles, St. Joseph of Cupertino grew up slow, awkward, and nervous, but always had a deep humility and was later infused with great wisdom and knowledge. Father encourages us to imitate this Franciscan wonder-saint by rising above earthly things, occupying ourselves with heavenly things, and always having our mind on God.

The life of certain saints, like St. Joseph Cupertino’s, makes me remmeber this passage of the 1st Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians:
“Consider your own calling, brothers. Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong,p 28and God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who are something, 29so that no human being might boast* before God.q 30It is due to him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, as well as righteousness, sanctification, and redemption,r 31so that, as it is written, “Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord.” 1Corinthians 1,26-31.
