Dec 09 – Homily – Fr Dominic: St John the Baptist and Our Advent Plans

Advent is the time for preparing for the coming of Christ. Does that mean putting up decorations and shopping? In today's Gospel, St. John the Baptist gives us these words from Isaiah:

The voice of one crying in the desert: Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight in the wilderness the paths of our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall become straight, and the rough ways plain. (Isaiah 40:3-4)

As we make our Advent resolutions we must present them to Our Lady, allowing her to direct our preparations for the coming of Christ, and asking Her to bring success to our Advent resolutions.
