The Franciscans of the Immaculate, inspired by the example of St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe, are seeking to conquer the world for the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through the maternal mediation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The primary role of the contemplative branch is to sustain the Church, and more specifically the missions of the Franciscans of the Immaculate, by their hidden life of prayer and penance. Each Friary of the contemplative friars is called a Ritiro Mariano, which in Italian has the sense of a “Marian Hermitage” where the contemplatives retreat and pray. Recently the contemplative friars have undertaken the sacred and prayerful work of restoring altars.
