I do agree there is a crisis of faith in our world. But the world also has changed, so much, in the last fifty years. There are so many children born out of wedlock, into single parent family situations. And there is so much divorce, and focus on sex, and wealth and power and control. These lusts have taken on epidemic proportions, especially perhaps in the wealthier western cultures. Like the catechism teaches, these lusts and sins have become, “because of their contagious effects, a plague on society.”
The old ways were wonderful, and good example to consider, but we have a problem today that must be addressed and uniquely considered. We have a plague that has reached epidemic proportions. Of course, Jesus, the God Who is Love, is always the answer, always the cure, through the Blessed Virgin Mary, but we must face the reality of this plague, as it is a plague that has indeed proven to be highly contagious within and without the Holy Catholic Church. Thank you, Father Dominic, for reminding me where I must look first and foremost in order to begin the healing and cleansing— in what ways my lack of faith contribute to this current plague.
