I am very thankful for the Fathers here at Air Maria and the wonderful access we have to Marian teaching from so many various sources. May God guide you always in the truths of His Holy Spirit so that you may continue to nourish us.
I am always reminded that we are not here as Christians in the world to advise Jesus on how to carry His Cross. We are here to help Him, each in our own way, to be as Simon of Cyrene, and to simply get under the Cross with Him and help carry the load. We can leave it to those who have not yet been truly touched by His Precious Blood to stand by the wayside and advise, “…if only those two would tip that cross a little to the left and then slightly to the right, they would do much better…”.
We are a pampered and clever lot, for the most part. But have we gained Holy Wisdom? While receiving instruction is necessary in order to grow as a disciple, the best instruction will always be found in our catechist’s willingness to simply get under that Cross and with compassion – co-passion, be united with His suffering. Only then will we have learned what it is to be a true disciple of Christ.
St. Paul to the Romans, 8:17 …”and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him that we may also be glorified together.”
If we suffer with Christ, only then we will be glorified together.
This is St. Paul again — “If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us.” ( 2Timothy 2:12).
Queen of Heaven, keep us, please, from becoming mere “advisors” on the wayside.
Pax Christi.
Ave Maria, Gratia Plena!
