“ ‘If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.’ With this sentence, St. Paul wants to say to us for our common edification: do we want to live truly spiritually, that is, moved and guided by the Holy Spirit? Let us be careful to mortify our own spirit, which puffs us up, renders us impulsive and withers us. In short, let us be careful to repress vainglory, irascibility, and jealousy: three evil spirits which enslave the greater part of men. These three evil spirits are extremely opposed to the Spirit of the Lord.”
