“Always keep before your mind’s eyes the obedience of Jesus in the garden and on the Cross: it was with immense contrast and without relief, but He obeyed unto lamenting with the Apostles and with His Father; and his obedience was excellent, and the more bitter it was, all-the-more beautiful it was. Never, therefore, was your soul as acceptable to God as it is now that you obey and serve Him in aridity and blindly.”
