    Dear Father Ignatius,

This was excellent. Thank you. It just goes to show that one cannot become lazy and not rely on his own understanding of things. We cannot assume that we can *feel* our way through our Faith. This will lead to modernism because we will start to look at Christ as the big Psychologist in the sky … not that He’s not, but He’s not in the way that modernists would believe. I think that I personally wallowed in this mentality for years … along with most Catholics I know! This is why Our Lord, in His infinite wisdom, had to leave us with an earthly leader (our Pope, bishops and priests) to keep us from going on our own emotional tangents, if you will. Then, we must WORK out our salvation because it truly takes work to read and listen in order to NOT be deceived. It’s a life long process … in fact, as most will admit, the more we learn, the more we realize how little we know. At least once a week, I hear a homily from this Friary with something I never knew before. (I suppose that doesn’t say much for me.) My biggest fear is that I simply cannot retain all of this.

What I do find disturbing from your homily is that the imprimatur is not always accurate. I realize that the people giving a book this *seal* are mere humans. However, if it is decided that a book was mistakenly given this seal of approval, I hope there is a means to removing such a seal. I realize that there would still be hundreds of books already published that cannot be recalled, but maybe there’s a way to start a database of books with an accurate/inaccurate seal ??? This would be a daunting task, I guess … but it just leaves so much room for further confusion.

Blessings and thanks for all of your hard work and dedication to all of us!
    Ave Maria!
    Jen.
