“The most important thing in confession is sorrow for sin. This depends solely on the will. Even if there is absolutely no sensible sorrow, the sorrow of the will is sufficient and even wipes away mortal sins??In the same way, also the practices of piety, meditation, etc., depend solely on the will, although the sentiments may also be of help; when one is in aridity, therefore, there is no need to lose peace of heart, because joy is a valuable aid to progress.” (SK #963)
