Herod was curious to see Jesus and that's about as far as it went. He had heard the preaching of John the Baptist, he knew that John was right when he told him he couldn't live with his brothers wife.
He didn't like what John had to say but he was stung to the heart and attracted in a way, by the words of Saint John the Baptist.
