So must the Son of Man be lifted up and so we reflect on the lifting up of the Son of Man this day on the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross and in order to understand the great mystery, we need to understand precisely what the cross was. Before Christ came to embrace it for mankind.
We revere the cross and we reverence the cross because it is the very instrument of our salvation. It is often important to reflect upon the true nature of what the cross reveals.
