Thoughts on Our Lady from St. Faustina

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Ave Maria Meditations

Our Lady of Divine mercy

O Mary, Immaculate Virgin, Pure crystal for my heart,

You are my strength, O sturdy anchor!

You are the weak heart’s shield and protection.
O Mary you are pure, of purity incomparable;

At once both Virgin and Mother,

You are beautiful as the sun, without blemish,

And Your soul is beyond all comparison.
Your beauty has delighted the eye of the Thrice – Holy – One.
He descended from heaven, leaving His eternal throne,

And took Body and Blood of Your heart,

And for nine months lay hidden in a Virgin’s heart.
O Mother, Virgin, purest of all lilies,

Your heart was Jesus’ first tabernacle on earth.

Only because no humility was deeper than yours.

Were You raised above the choirs of Angels and above all Saints.
O Mary, my sweet Mother,

I give you my soul, my body and my poor heart.

Be guardian to my life, Especially at the hour of death, in the final strife.

St. Faustina

FEAST OF THE DIVINE MERCY

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

“BE MERCIFUL EVEN AS YOUR FATHER IS MERCIFUL”

(Lk 6:36)

The Feast of the Divine Mercy is the Sunday after Easter

DM chaplet

“Jesus Christ taught that man not only receives and experiences the mercy of God, but that he is also called ‘to practice mercy’ towards others. ‘Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy’ (Mt 5:7). The Church sees in these words a call to action, and she tries to practice mercy …. Man attains to the merciful love of God, His mercy, to the extent that he himself is interiorly transformed in the spirit of that love towards his neighbor.”

(John Paul II, Rich in Mercy, 14)

The Church teaches us to be merciful in various ways:

DIVINE MERCY NOVENA begins on Good Friday

Divine Mercy

The Divine Mercy Novena

Divine Mercy Devotionals at EWTN

Jesus asked that the Feast of the Divine Mercy be preceded by a Novena to the Divine Mercy which would begin on Good Friday. He gave St. Faustina an intention to pray for on each day of the Novena, saving for the last day the most difficult intention of all, the lukewarm and indifferent of whom He said:

“These souls cause Me more suffering than any others; it was from such souls that My soul felt the most revulsion in the Garden of Olives. It was on their account that I said: ‘My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass Me by.’ The last hope of salvation for them is to flee to My Mercy.”

In her diary, St. Faustina wrote that Jesus told her:

“On each day of the novena you will bring to My heart a different group of souls and you will immerse them in this ocean of My mercy … On each day you will beg My Father, on the strength of My passion, for the graces for these souls.”

The different souls prayed for on each day of the novena are:

Prayer Knocks, Fasting Obtains, Mercy Receives

Ave Maria Mediations

Prayer, Fasting and Mercy by St. Peter Chrysologus

There are three things, my brethren, by which faith stands firm, devotion remains constant, and virtue endures. They are prayer, fasting and mercy. Prayer knocks at the door, fasting obtains, mercy receives. Prayer, mercy and fasting: these three are one, and they give life to each other.

Fasting is the soul of prayer, mercy is the lifeblood of fasting. Let no one try to separate them; they cannot be separated. If you have only one of them or not all together, you have nothing. So if you pray, fast; if you fast, show mercy; if you want your petition to be heard, hear the petition of others. If you do not close your ear to others you open God’s ear to yourself. (more…)

O Blessed Host, in whom is contained the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus

O Blessed Host, in whom is contained life eternal and of infinite mercy,

O Blessed Host, in whom is contained the mercy of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit towards us, and especially towards poor sinners.
O Blessed Host, in whom is contained the infinite price of mercy which will compensate for all our debts, and especially those of poor sinners.???

Ave Maria!May’s Theme: Mary Mediatrix

“Divine grace is a gift of the divine mercy and, according to St. Bernard, God entrusted the entire order of grace to His Most Holy Mother, the Immaculate. She, in fact, is not capable of abandoning anyone, because it has never be heard that anyone, after having had recourse to Her, has been abandoned.” (cf. SK #1088)
