Mar 05 – Homily – Fr Joachim: Even If One Should Rise From the Dead

Thursday, March 5th, 2015
Click to Play

Homily #150305n ( 04min) Play – Father comments on the words of Our Lord today, “If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.” He tells us that this was fulfilled in those who refused to believe from after the Resurrection even to our day. Of these, many respond to the teachings of Christ with hatred and scorn, and we now see various laws being put into place to criminalize the teachings of Christ and His Church. We must stand for the Truth, regardless of what it may cost us.

Feb 23 – Homily – Fr Joachim: Jesus and “Faith Alone”

Monday, February 23rd, 2015

Homily #150223n ( 05min) Play – Father comments on the gospel, telling us that we will be judged by our actions. He tells us that this is contrary to the Protestant idea of salvation by “Faith Alone.” While we do have to have faith, we have to act on that faith too. We will be judged on how we treat others, for as Our Lord says, “Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” Let us act on our faith in Jesus, and seek to see and love Him in others, especially those who are the least lovable.

Homily #150219n ( 03min) Play – Father comments on the readings, and shows how the words of Our Lord in the Gospel complete those in the first reading. We are told that “Today I have set before you
life and prosperity, death and doom.” Then Our Lord tells us, “whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.” That is, to have real live, eternal life, we have to be willing to die to the things of this world, “take up his cross daily,” and live to God. This is and this alone is the way to true life.

Feb 16 – Homily – Fr Joachim: The Sign is Himself

Monday, February 16th, 2015

Homily #150216n ( 04min) Play – In today’s Gospel, the Pharisees come asking for signs and wonders to back up the claim of Jesus, but He, knowing they were motivated by curiosity and not a desire for the truth, refused to work any signs. Do we demand signs from God, or do we recognize that He is present to us in His Church, in the Sacraments, in the circumstances of our lives, and in our very hearts? The sign He gives us is Himself, let us ask for the grace to recognize Him.

Feb 09 – Homily – Fr Joachim: Order Out of Chaos

Monday, February 9th, 2015

Homily #150209n ( 07min) Play – Father comments on the creation account, showing that in God’s creation, He brings order out of chaos. Father then tells us that we, by sin, disrupt that creation and bring chaos back into our world, our lives, and our souls. However, when we submit to the action of grace, seeking in particularly in Confession and the Eucharist, God continues this action of bringing order from chaos first in our souls, second in our lives, and finally into our world.

Feb 02 – Homily – Fr Joachim: They Prayed

Monday, February 2nd, 2015
Click to Play

Homily #150202n ( 08min) Play – Father points out that only Simeon and Anna recognized Our Lord when he was presented into the temple, and the reason is because they led lives of deep prayer which made them sensitive to the presence of God. And Our Lady was so united to God, that God united himself to her, and her joy is not diminished by all her sufferings. Let us enter into prayer, put our trust in Jesus, rely on the mediation of Mary, and recognize that at every Mass Our Lord comes into the temples of his churches, and at every communion into the temple of our bodies.
