Listen as Fra Terrence one of our Roving Reporters gives an on-location narration of the event. Ave Maria! |

Ave Maria! While we were at the Connecticut State Capitol to cover the vote on gay ‘marriage’ and the related religious liberty issues, we ran into Fr. Doug Mosey the rector of Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, CT and several of his seminarians. They were there in force to support the adding of conscientious objection clauses in the bill for religious organizations and in support of religious liberty for all Americans. In the interview he gives a fascinating account of Holy Apostles and the people who attend. Ave Maria! |
Ave Maria! We went to the Connecticut State Capitol yesterday to get the scoop on the efforts to protect religious freedom in the face of the impending vote on the same-sex ‘marriage’ bill and Peter Wolfgang of the Family Institute of CT (FIC) generously gave the Roving Reporter and interview. As predicted, the bill passed the Senate and the House but not before having some important amendments attached that at least partially protect foundational liberties thanks to the action of FIC, the Knights of Columbus, the National Organization for Marriage and the 20,000 Connecticut citizens who called their legislators. The Hartford Currant has a full story of some of the secular points but as Peter Wolfgang points out in one of the FIC’s emails:
Well, most of the points that FIC and friends pushed for were added to the amendment which had been rejected by the Judiciary Committee a few weeks earlier. A good day for liberty. Deo Gratias! Ave Maria! |
Ave Maria! Peter Wolfgang had an extremely hectic day on 12th March, 2009 He spent most of the day at the CT Capitol heavily involved with the fight against the SB1098 Bill, and then Friar Roderic, our Roving Reporter, caught up with him for the second time on this day after he had just finished debating Jillian Gilchrist, the Exective Director of NARAL CT. Ave Maria! Last September, the Friars held an International Centenary Symposium on the Mariology of Bl. John Duns Scotus at the University of Durham, England, in honor of the 700th anniversary of Scotus’ death (1308). We had the great privilege of celebrating a mass at St. Margaret’s Parish in Duns, Scotland, which is where Scotus was born, and of interviewing the main celebrant of the mass, His Eminence Keith Michael Patrick O’Brien, Cardinal of St. Andrews and Edinburgh, Scotland. We will be posting the various presentations from the conference itself in the upcoming weeks. We promise that there’ll be enough Mariology in these conferences to chew on for a lifetime! Ave Maria! |
Ave Maria! In 2006 Fr Vincent Maria Amores opened a friary in the state of Kerala, India. This interview was done in the United states during father’s two months stay before heading back to India. Ave Maria! Our Roving Reporter caught up with the amazingly successful Pro-Life Activist, Lila Rose, at the Liaison Hotel in Downtown DC last week. In fact, Lila is so successful as a Pro-Life activist she has gained national media coverage, some of her videos exposing malpractices by Planned Parenthood have been withdrawn from YouTube, and her picture is even being displayed in some Planned Parenthood facilities warning staff about her undercover activities – all this and she is only 20 years old – wow! And to top all this off – she is currently part of an RCIA program and will soon be received into the Holy Catholic Church. Ave Maria! |
Ave Maria! So our Roving Reporter landed another big fish when he was given this interview yesterday by Fr Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, at the Liaison Hotel in downtown DC. Fr Frank Pavone heads up the annual March for Life with his group from Silent No More and this year they had not only a record number of participants for Silent No More in the March, but we’re sure it was a record number of participants in the March itself – Fox News estimated over 300,000!!! Ave Maria! |
Ave Maria! After the 36th Annual March for Life yesterday, our Roving Reporter stayed on in DC to attend some of the post-March conferences and get some interviews with the famous Pro-Life celebrities giving presentations at the conferences. Today friar Roderic was very blessed to be able to talk to Alan Keyes – a presidential candidate in the 2000 election and an incredibly gifted speaker. Ave Maria! |
Ave Maria! The Roving Reporter catches Fr. Thomas Vander Woude at his parish, Queen of the Apostles, in Alexandria, VA. He relates his vocation story, starting with a good, prayerful family life. He then tells of the recent, tragic death of his father who died saving his brother who has Down Syndrome and the amazing number of people who were inspired to noble action by this news. Listen to this pro-life, pro-family, inspirational story. Ave Maria! |
Ave Maria! Dawn Eden author of “The Thrill of the Chaste” graciously gives the Roving Reporter an account of her journey from Judaism to Protestantism and then finally through the intercession of St. Maximilian Kolbe to Catholicism. And, of course, St. Maximilian led her to Our Blessed Virgin Mary who in turn gave her the inspiration for her book that teaches young adults and college students the importance of chastity. Listen to her amazing story. Dawn Eden’s Blog: The Dawn Patrol Her book: The Thrill of the Chaste Ave Maria! |
