A viewer sent this to me from his YouTube  site, beautiful. Let us pray for our Iraqi brethren.

Hear the voice of a Christian Martyr singing a hymn in Arabic to the Blessed Mother, while watching a slideshow of his funeral mass. Hear the angelic voice of Father Ragheed Ganni, a 35 year old Chaldean Catholic Priest killed on Sunday June 3rd, 2007 with three of his deacons right after celebrating mass at Holy Spirit Chaldean Catholic Church in Mosul, Iraq. The car of Father Ragheed and the three deacons was stopped by terrorists shortly after leaving the church. They were forced to get down from the car and asked to declare their conversion to Islam. When the four martyrs refused they were brutally gunned down with machine guns. Lord, protect all the innocent people of Iraq and all those trying to defend them. Jesus we trust in you and we are sustained by the prayers of your most holy mother to whom you never refuse a request. We pray for the repentance and conversion of Father Ragheed’s killers and all other terrorists. May she who gave birth to us at the foot of the cross beg you for mercy. source: www.ankawa.com

Homily #091127m ( 09min) Play – Today we celebrate the feast of the Miraculous Medal (1830).  Originally called the “Medal of the Immaculate Conception”, this sacramental comes directly from the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our Mother. It is not only highly venerated and promoted by the Franciscans of the Immaculate, but has become an integral part of their habit, devoutly worn over their hearts.

Father John Joseph encourages us to wear the Miraculous Medal, wear it worthily, and to live our lives showing that we want to be children of our Immaculate Mother, united with Her will and the will of Her Son.

Marycast #95 ( 10min) Play – Dr. Miravalle outlines the events since the apparitions in 1948 which he describes as tragedy and persecution followed by the fidelity of the seers and the trust of the devotees and the final victory when in 1991, after further miraculous signs, the bishops of the Philippines approve the apparitions and even start a national day of prayer in honor of Our Lady of Lipa, Mediatrix of Grace.

Homily #091126m ( 09min) Play – St. Leonard of Port Maurice (1676-1751). Joining a branch of the Franciscans of the Strict Observance, St. Leonard desired to be sent on mission to China but was held back by sickness. He instead began preaching missions in Italy and attracted huge crowds in Rome. This great preacher worked for devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, Sacred Heart, Immaculate Conception, and the Stations of the Cross, of which he erected almost six hundred throughout the lands.

Father explains how, following the example of our patron saint of parish missions, St. Leonard, we should encourage missions at our parish as these can be times of very special graces..

Homily #091125m ( 12min) Play – St. Humilis of Bisignano, O.Min. (1582-1637). From his youth he had the gift of continuous ecstasy, to such an extent that he was called “the ecstatic Friar”. He was also blessed with extraordinary gifts of reading hearts, prophecy, miracles and, especially, of infused knowledge. Although he was without education, he responded to questions on Sacred Scripture and on any point whatsoever of Catholic doctrine with a precision that astounded theologians. He enjoyed the confidence of Popes Gregory XV and Urban VIII, who called him to Rome and, through a rigorous examination, made use of his prayers and advice. He was beatified in 1882 and canonized in 2002.

“Humilis” is Latin for “humble”.  Father explains that humility is the key to obtaining true understanding, because God pours out blessings upon the humble and resists the proud..
