Homily #081130 ( 12min) Play - On this first Sunday of Advent, Fr. Ignatius preaches on the need to look back on the past year and then make resolutions to achieve new levels of holiness for this new liturgical year, knowing that the world, the flesh and the Devil is warring against us. To highlight this, he mentions the comments carelessly made to an Inside the Vatican reporter by Hollywood representatives.

Ave Maria!– November’s Theme: Holiness
“In the measure that the years pass and eternity draws near, we must double our courage and raise our spirit to God, serving Him with greater diligence in all that which our Christian vocation and profession obliges us.”

Ave Maria!– November’s Theme: Holiness
“I beg you and exhort you to never abandon the continuation of the holy resolutions you have made because God, who has put them in your heart, will ask you to give an account of them; and to preserve them well, stay always close to the Savior because His shadow is advantageous for the birth and preservation of such fruits.”

Ave Maria!– November’s Theme: Holiness
“It is very easy to guide a boat when it is not troubled by the winds, and to go through life without an accident whatsoever. But in the middle of the obstacles or trials, as through the winds, it is very difficult to continue the journey. Behold the necessity to always watch and to look after one’s self, of one’s own actions, of one’s intentions and to show that the heart is good and just, sweet, humble and generous. To such an end, often place your heart in the state of an absolute confidence in Him who has called you into the bosom of His affection.”

Ave Maria!
[Update: Some of the links that were broken in this post have been fixed]
Hello friends! We wanted to take this Thanksgiving Day here in the US to thank everyone for your prayers, support and regular viewership of AirMaria. You are the AirMaria community, and we wanted to thank you for making AirMaria a success in spreading devotion to Our Lady.
Also today marks the 2nd anniversary of the first post on AirMaria back on Thanksgiving Day 2006 (a few months before the official start in March 2007, note the “FITVN” in the thumbnail below which was the first name we were intending to use before coming up with AirMaria.)

The video was Fr. Peter in the first of his series, the Golden Thread. It is an introduction to the theology of John Duns Scotus and interestingly talks about the 700th anniversary of his death that just took place at the beginning of this month. Also, the video file for this episode was lost for about a year and I just found a copy while doing the switch to the new server last week. Sooo …in the spirit of thanksgiving we present Fr. Peter’s Golden Thread, the lost episode. We plan on continuing his series with new episodes in the near future. (more…)

Ave Maria!
This is a repost of on of the earliest videos on AirMaria, revisted today on this feast of the Miraculous Medal. Enjoy!
Original Post:
This vignette of the apparition of Our Lady to St. Catherine Laboure on the occasion of her request for the Medal was produced by the Franciscans of the Immaculate in conjunction with Susan Mackewich of Gizmo Productions and Dave Wroe. We include this segment on the happy occasion of the start of Air Maria and on the Feast of the Annunciation of the Archangel St. Michael to Our Lady resulting in the blessed Incarnation of the Son of God.

Ave Maria!– November’s Theme: Holiness
“The evident sign of perfection is that of being submissive to the Divine Will in the trials of the spirit. Religion is a hospital for the spiritually ill who wish to be cured, and in order to achieve this they submit themselves to bleeding, the lancet, the razor, some probing, surgical instruments, fire and all the pains of medicine.”

Ave Maria Meditations
The Universal Prayer of Thanksgiving After Mass
(Attributed to Pope Clement XI)
Lord, I believe in you: increase my faith.
I trust in you: strengthen my trust.
I love you: let me love you more and more.
I am sorry for my sins: deepen my sorrow.
I worship you as my first beginning,
I long for you as my last end,
I praise you as my constant helper,
and call on you as my loving protector.
