Fr. Ben Luedtke gives the first talk for the Priest’s Retreat at the Mother of the Redeemer Retreat Center in Bloomington, IN, filling in for Card. Burke. He discusses the mystery of Christ’s sacrifice and how this is made present in the Mass by the priest and how this shows the marvelous uniqueness of the Catholic priest.

On July 23rd the Crucifix on the “Tower of David” was struck simultaneously by two bolts of lighting, witnessed by Fr. Elias’ mother and some construction workers. The lighting rod was not yet installed.

The corpus was cracked in various places and had to be patched up.

Two months later on the Feast of St. Pio of Pietrelcina the new crucifix was blessed and erected.

If you have ever doubted that you are loved, think of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the foot of the Cross. . . She loves you. If you ever doubt that you are loved, consider that love is proven in the willingness to sacrifice greatly for another.

This Lent the corpus was mounted for the new crucifix at Mother of the Redeemer Retreat Center here near our friary in Bloomington, Indiana. This is a timelapse video of the event. The Stigmata of St. Francis of Assisi (1224) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Sep 17. It was an event in the life of St Francis when he was on a retreat on Mt. Alverna just two years before his death. An apparition of Christ Crucified with six wings appeared before him, setting his heart on fire, and the wounds of Christ were impressed on his hands, feet, and side.

Reflection is on looking up to the Cross. where Crist was wounded for our iniquities.
