Today’s blessed gives us an example of one who heard the call, and did leave everything to follow God. Bl. Ramondon Lull left his high position at court, founded a college for the training of missionaries, and, after many years of promoting the missions, went to Northern Africa himself at the age of 79, preached the Gospel, and there was stoned. He died of his injuries after be rescued, but before reaching home. He gave all to bring the Faith to others, what have we done?

African bishops taking part in the Synod oppose the fact that some NGOs want to impose birth control and abortion in Africa as a way of tackling its widespread hunger and poverty. However, Cardinal Turkson believes Africa has the capacity of providing food for all its people.

St. Peter Claver called himself the slave of the black slaves and is today the patron of missions to the blacks. In his last illness St. Peter Claver was mistreated by the black man nursing him but never complained.
