Homily #141102n ( 15min) Play – Father reminds us that at the moment of death, our fate is fixed. The soul, if it is separated from God by mortal sin, seeks to flee from God in hell, while the perfect soul at once rises to God in heaven, but the imperfect soul which dies in God’s friendship, realizing that is it marred by venial imperfections, turns to purgatory to be cleansed and made worthy to appear before God. We must not forget these souls, for they rely on our prayers. Finally, let us learn from their misfortune by seeking God fully in this life, arriving at that perfect love He desires from us, and going straight to heaven.

Homily #141116n ( 22min) Play – Fr. Matthias comments on today’s gospel, telling us that while we don’t all receive the same amount of grace, we all do have the obligation to use what we have. Father gives us the three conditions to merit: 1) we have to do a good work while in the state of grace, 2) we need to do the works appropriate to our state in life, and 3) it needs to be done out of a supernatural motive, that is, out of love for God. And he gives us one final exhortation: We are responsible for our actions, we were given our free will to use it, and Our Lord will ask us “What good have you done?”

Homily #141130n ( 13min) Play – When we turn away from the Lord, we sin, Father tells us. But the Lord can also turn away from us too. He does this by letting us have our own way; he abandons us to our own designs and desires, and we go from bad to worse. He does this to wake us up to our need for Him and His grace, and that recognizing our pitiful state, we may turn back to Him. Let us pray to Our Lady that She may acquire for us the grace to be watchful for the indications of God’s will and that this Advent may be a time to prepare for His coming at Christmas, and to be ready for when He comes to meet us at the end of our time in this world.

Homily #141226n ( 06min) Play – Father comments on the Feast of St. Steven, the Protomartyr, and tells us that this reminds us that the joy of Christmas, of the Incarnation, intrinsically calls for witnesses who are ready and willing to give testimony for what they believe. If it seems we have peace with the world, Father tells us, we need to examine to see if we have peace because we have capitulated to the world’s demands and we need to remember that this peace will never last long since there is no peace between the world and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We must always be ready to witness, for we don’t know when the time will come or what will be asked of us, it could be our very lives, but whatever else happens, we must not betray the dignity we have of being Children of God.

Homily #150603n ( 05min) Play – Father tells us that we must not forget our souls, and we must even put the care of our souls over our bodies. Bodily death doesn’t mean the end of the soul, and whatever the soul had merited during its time on Earth, the body will experience for eternity after the general resurrection. Today we remember the martyrs of Uganda who considered their souls more important than even their lives, and refused to give into the impure demands of the king. We too must be strong, but we must find this strength in God, He will help us if only we turn to Him in our need.

Homily #150620n ( 06min) Play – Today’s gospel (from the Sermon on the Mount) reminds us to take care of our souls before our bodies. There will only be two choices in the end, God or not-God, Heaven or Hell. We need to prepare ourselves now, that is why we are here. Which will we choose?

Homily #150709n ( 05min) Play – Father tells us that the heretics of the 16th century attacked primarily the Real Presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and the authority of the Pope and the Magisterium of the Church. Today’s martyrs suffered for these teachings of Christ’s Church, the Catholic Church. Let us take these men as our models and follow the exhortation of St. Peick “Never swerve a hair’s breath from the Catholic Faith.”

Homily #150716n ( 07min) Play – Father tells us of the tradition that there was a company of hermits which gathered on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land after Elijah destroyed the priests of Baal and prayed for rain to come down after three years of complete drought. These hermits were devoted to praying for the coming Messiah and the woman who would become his mother. When Joseph, Mary, and Jesus returned to Nazareth after their exile in Egypt, they stopped and revealed the Messiah to the monks, who were there after devoted to Jesus and His Mother Mary, and are know known as the Carmelite Order. Today we also remember the giving of the Brown Scapular to the Carmerite Order, and Father encourages us all to wear it faithfully, for it reminds us that we are Children of Mary, and that we wear the “yoke of Christ”.

Homily #150720n ( 06min) Play – St. Apollinaris is a martyr from the early Church–he was martyred in 79AD–and Father Joachim tells us about his life and sufferings for Christ.
