This grace, received at baptism, makes us children of God and partakers of His divine nature, enabling us to live with faith, hope, and charity. It can grow or be lost through mortal sin, presenting a choice between living as slaves of the devil or in the freedom of God's children. Unlike an extrinsic covering, Catholic doctrine teaches that sanctifying grace intrinsically transforms our souls, making us truly God's children and heirs, with the Blessed Mother as our spiritual mother. We must choose to live and grow in this reality to enter the wedding feast of the Lamb.
