Make America Godly Again: The True Path to Greatness – Jul 04 – Homily – Fr Alan

 

Fr. Alan B. Maria Wharton gives the homily on the 250th anniversary of American independence (July 4, 2026), proposing that true greatness requires reclaiming "MAGA" as "Make America Godly Again." Father asserts that any idea of greatness apart from godliness is meaningless, as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are ultimately fleeting without God.

Fr. Alan references Pope Leo XIV, who, upon receiving a liberty medal, distinguished authentic freedom from secular liberty. Authentic freedom, the Pope stated, is "founded upon the human person's capacity to know the truth and adhere to what is good, even at great cost," contrasting with merely acting as one desires.
