Fr. Joseph Michael McShane gives the homily, on how God's grace transforms human failures like Peter's denial and Paul's persecution into sainthood, inspiring passionate love for Christ, patient endurance of suffering, and zealous spreading of the Gospel through the witness of these two martyrs.
Today we celebrate the feast of St. Peter and St. Paul, two great apostles who loved Jesus deeply. Even though Peter denied Jesus three times and Paul once hurt Christians, God's grace changed their lives and made them holy. They both died for their faith in Rome under Emperor Nero, Peter by being crucified upside down and Paul by being beheaded. Their example shows us that no matter our mistakes, we can still become close to God. We ask these saints to help us love Jesus more, share the good news with others, and keep going even when life is hard, just like they did.
