Uniting Our Will with God’s for True Holiness – Jun 25 – Homily – Fr Josemaria

The homily, drawing from the Gospel (Matthew 7:21), stresses that merely acknowledging God as "Lord" is insufficient for entering the Kingdom of Heaven; rather, one must "do the will of my Father in heaven." Referencing St. Alphonsus Liguori's work, *Uniformity with God's Will*, the homilist explains that holiness lies not in extraordinary deeds but in aligning with God's will. He outlines three degrees of engaging with God's will:
1. **Resignation:** A passive submission, accepting God's will because it is His, but without active desire.
2. **Conformity:** An active desire to do God's will, representing a firmer, more active response.
3. **Uniformity:** The highest form, where one desires *exactly* what God desires, making one's will truly united with His. This is the ultimate effect of grace penetrating our souls.
Our Lady perfectly embodies uniformity with God's will, as shown in her final recorded words, "Do whatever He tells you" (John 2:5). St. Augustine notes that Mary not only consented to God's word but also to His holy will. We are called to give our assent not just to God's word, but to His holy will, for "in His will is our peace, and in His will is our way to heaven."
