Beautiful Feast Day, beautiful Homily. Thank you, Fr. Angelo, and all the friars for your inspiring Homilies. It is an important part of my daily prayer and meditation.
This note is being posted for all the parents who have been blessed, or will be blessed witha special needs child:
Our son, Paul Anthony, was sent to Yale New Haven Hospital for 10 days when he was three months old. He wasn’t hitting his milestones. After all the diagnostic testing was done the neurologist took us out onto an outdoor patio and said to my husband and I, “We don’t know what is wrong with your son. He will be severly disabled both mentally and physically for the rest of his life. Take him home. Love him. Don’t expect anything from him.” My heart, and my husband’s heart, were pierced through in a moment. We did as the doctor told us. Paul Anthony is almost 22 years of age, 45 pounds, non-verbal, and now an epileptic. He has brought much suffering to the family. But he has brought just as much, if not more, joy.
Paul Anthony is a cross in the eyes of the world. Paul Anthony is for us the most beautiful gift God could have given us. By sacrificing, and loving for this wonderful son we are walking along the path to holiness and heaven, by God’s design. We, my husband, Paul Anthony, and I, can identify with the Fourth Joyful Mystery, the Presentation of the Lord, in an inferior way.
For those moms who are facing a difficult pregnancy (crisis pregnancy) say ‘yes’ to life. You won’t have any regrets.
