During November of 2007 The Roving Reporter and Fr. Angelo were going on retreat and were invited to stop by at Our Lady's House, Our Lady of Ephesus House of Prayer, in Jamaica, VT on the way. It so happens that they ended up staying there! After their retreat Fr. Angelo, the stand-in Roving Reporter, interviews Mary Torinelli on the history of Our Lady of Ephesus House of Prayer. That looks like such a great place to visit. Did anyone happen to get the lat/long coordinates? Also, the leading/trailing music is wonderful, what is it?

  • Monty says:

Why does the black madonna in your Roving Reporter segment have no hands?

  • Fr Angelo says:

The statue in the chapel is an exact replica of the one in the shrine in Ephesus. The original is quite old and suffered the consequences of the long neglect of the shrine in previous decades. The statue was retained in spite of the damage because of its long association with the shrine.

Mary and Don Tarinelli wanted everything in Vermont, to be exactly like it is in Ephesus and so contracted a sculptor to replicate the original as accurately as possible.

  • Friar says:

The music is from our Sisters in Italy. The intro music is called “Flos Mariae” and the outro music is called “Bonus Est” by G. P. da Palestrina (it has been said that he would go to St. Philip Neri for spiritual direction)
