Face of Pro-Life #151 – Alex Joseph on Population ( 30min) >>> Play |
|
|
|
Ave Maria!
Alex Joseph from India gives his unique perspective of the population problem as he witnessed it in one of the most densely populated counties in the world. Listens as he explains how India is currently undergoing many of the changes we experienced 40 years ago, including a massive decrease in the birth rate due to the adoption of the contraceptive mentality. Although India is still above the replacement level it has decreased along with virtually every other country throughout the world, including the Muslim countries which are so often cited as growing out of control. Only a small part of Africa still has close to historical birthrates. The result is that instead of a population explosion, we are mathematically guaranteed to have a population implosion. But, before that we will have the problem of taking care of our aging population with a rapidly shrinking numbers of youth. This problem is so large that it will impoverish even the richest countries in the world.

Ave Maria!
The AirMaria team is in Madrid and will start posting video soon – hopefully. After a long flight, with a long layover, and travel time (36 hours all told) we finally arrived on Monday at the hotel in Madrid late in the afternoon, but there seems to be great confusion reigning here and a few technical mishaps that have delayed getting things on AirMaria.
We have, in fact, been quite productive but we are doing multilingual videos for some of the European sites through Fr. Alfonso Bruno, the FI communications director and this has taken most of our time as well as spending a good hour to get anywhere on the Metro Train. We may even be doing some live streaming at some point, again, hopefully.
The Pope will have his first Mass this evening and they expect upwards of a million people coming for the final event at the Madrid Aerodrome. So far the trains are already packed full of super energetic Catholic youth from around the world.

I cant imagine how busy and crowded it will be later on and how enthusiastic they will all be now that the Holy Father is in Madrid.

Packed likes Sardines.

Viva Italia!

Go America!
We will be attending the first public showing of the John Duns Scotus film at 5:15pm this evening where we will do an interview. The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate produced this movie in conjunction with TVCO in Italy. It is the official World Youth Day film and won the Vatican’s Silver Fish Award.

A map showing the incidents of persecution against Catholics at the Photographic Presentation of Christian Persecution at St Jerome’s parish in Madrid set up by the . This was narrated for our French site by Cristina Tatu of Aid to the Church in Need. Wait for the Video.

Face of Pro-Life #119 – Corinn Dahm and Jill Sackidovitch on the youth ( 30min) >>> Play |
|

Ave Maria!
Jill Sackidovitch director of the Westbrook, CT branch of Birthright offers her insight of how to reach out to youth with a Pro-life message in this modern, changing, materialistic world, making use of her ample experience working with young teenage mothers coming to her local Birthright facility. She also set up a booth at a local fair and had much more contact with youth in general. She believes that the joy of life message has been received very well by youth. She believes that youth are increasingly pro-life and describes the free materials that she offered to the youth. She also mentions how ultrasound images of their little babies is very powerful for young mothers and how the youth and even young children understand the sanctity of human life very well. The youth are also very quick to notice a lack of sincerity and are quite skeptical in general so it is important not to talk down to them. They want to hear the other side of the story as opposed to the line they get from TV etc. We must provide them with this other side, the culture of life that raises the dignity of humanity and leads to eternal life.

Homily #101105 ( 08min) Play – In today’s Gospel we have the parable of the unjust steward where Our Lord points out how wise worldly people are in the pursuit of selfish goals and making friends in this life to the neglect of higher goals and eternal life. Fr. Dominic relates this to the modern world that is so focused on greed. He mentions that we must be focused instead on eternal life and organize our spiritual endeavors in order to make progress, growing in our friendship with God and so store up treasure for our final end.

Recording Failed - In today’s Gospel Our Lord brings salvation to Zacheus of Jericho. Fr. Bonaventure preaches on how Jericho is a symbol of sinfulness that has been conquered by Christ’s presence. This place was one of the most ancient cities in the world and was the lowest place below sea level that is inhabited by man and so is a symbol of Hell. The citizens were devotees of the lunar deities and practiced the associated vices, ones that would cause people to loose their mind, becoming literally lunatics. He connects this with the culture of modern decadent cities using Chapter 2 of the Book of Wisdom and how Christ is needed just as before for bringing the Kingdom of God to these bastions of Satan.

Homily #100905 ( 35 min) Play – In today’s Gospel Our Lord tells us that we must love Him above all things and be well prepared in our engagement with the world. He tells us this in the form of two parables, the building of the tower and the king who contemplates going into battle. Fr. Bonaventure explains this in the context of Catholic action, where our preparation consists in building up our love of, and trust in, God who has forces vastly stronger than the enemy and that action starts with prayer and contemplation and only secondarily with physical action. Father also outlines the many ways that we are in true, open and explicit battle with the modern culture and philosophy, always relating it back to its spiritual nature.

Homily #100829 ( 13min) Play – Will we follow Him? Fr. Angelo Geiger preaches on today’s Gospel where Our Lord admonishes us to live a sacrificial, spiritual life and not be worried about things of this world. For as the Gospel states, the Lilies of the field which work not nor spin not are clothed by God more gloriously than Solomon. He points out that to not follow this basic spiritual discipline is to live inconsistently when so many follow harder discipline in the secular corporate world.
