Mary Vitamin for July 21st
Topic: Prayer makes for a profitable day
Quote:
Father Stefano Manelli, FI
When we entrust everything to our sweet Mother, nothing but profit comes of
it — in virtue, in grace, in love.
Devotion to Our Lady, (Academy of the Immaculate), 103.
Meditation:
Fr. Charles M. Mangan,
A deep interior life is very “practical” because it gives the person a real
clarity and calm when making decisions. Those who pray frequently and desire to
love and serve God above all else are blest with the ability to understand the
most important realities and to choose well with tranquility and peace.
Catechism on Redemptoris Custos, (Eternal Life: 2003), 11. [ q#43] (more…)

Homily #100619 ( 06min) Play – Our Lord tells us in today’s Gospel that we should not worry about material things but rather trust that He will provide. Fr. Bonaventure puts this in a modern context that we should not put our hopes in various materialistic ideologies like capitalism or communism which are merely different forms of greed. We should instead strive to gain the treasure of virtue.

Homily #100524 ( 08min) Play – On this Monday of the Octave of Pentecost Fr. Ignatius preaches on the true and most important fruits of the Holy Spirit. He compares thes with mere, natural enthusiasm and the lesser, charismatic gifts. The best way to discern this is to look at Mary, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, at the foot of the Cross where she displayed heroic virtue. He further describes how to be disposed to the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Homily #100127 ( 09min) Play – St Bernard of Clairvaux preached the second crusade. But, despite the fact that he was able to perform many miracles to confirm that this was the will of God, the crusade failed resulting in the loss of many Christian soldiers and a setback for Christian control of the Holy Land. Fr. Ignatius points out that it is sometimes God’s will that we be humbled in order to bring about greater virtue.
