Ave Maria! Yes, we are front runners for the ‘Silver Fish Award’ at the Vatican’s International Catholic Film Festival in the categories of Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor/Actress for the feature length motion picture that the FI’s in Italy produced titled “Duns Scoto” on the life of Bl. John Duns Scotus. The other two films that are also finalists, and with which we are competing, are listed below. These finalists were chosen from a total of 746 films. The announcement will be made before the festival ends this Saturday, May 21, probably on Thursday. This is a great opportunity to put a spotlight on Bl. John Duns Scotus, the Franciscan scholar, who gave the theological foundation for the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception, winning the title ‘The Marian Doctor’. It is also a great boost to our worldwide media efforts. Please keep us in your prayers that we win.

God’s MightyServant by Markus O. Rosenmüller, Germany 2010 – 2 x 90 ‘- The story of Sister Pasqualina, and the special role she had in the life of Pius XII, masterfully played by Remo Girone.
Marcelino pan y vino by José Luis Gutierrez, Mexico 2011 – 110 ‘ – Remake of the famous film. The main hero (an orphan in love with Jesus) is played here by a remarkable child actor. The action takes place
The film was Co-produced by TVCO, a multimedia production company based in Naples, Italy, which is also the executive producer and the international distributor of the work.

December 25, 2010. ‘May the birth of the Prince of Peace remind the world where its true happiness lies; and may your hearts be filled with hope and joy, for the Saviour has been born for us,’ said the Pope during his Christmas speech, the Urbi et Orbi message. The Pope also denounced the situation of Christians in China and asked God to ‘inspire political and religious leaders to be committed to full respect for the religious freedom of all’.
December 17, 2010. The Vatican has accused China of oppressing religious freedom and says that attempts to control the conscience of its citizens and interfere in the internal affairs of the Catholic Church does no credit to Beijing. In a strongly worded statement, the Vatican said their attitude is a sign of fear, weakness and intransigent intolerance. The report also states that Beijing has “unilaterally damaged the climate of trust and dialogue” that had developed between the Vatican and the government.
December 8, 2010. The Immaculate Conception Room, located in the heart of the Vatican Museums, regained its glory in 2007, after an extensive restoration. Now, just years later, the spotlight returns for the publication of an spectacular book about its frescoes.
Pope Benedict has issued the post-synodal apostolic exhortation Verbum Domini [The Word of the Lord], the most important Church document devoted to Sacred Scripture since the Second Vatican Council’s Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation (Dei Verbum), which was promulgated in 1965.

For the introduction to our Symposium “Mother of the Church” on Marian Coredemption at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, La Crosse, Wisconsin on August 21, 2010, Fr. Peter Fehlner, Mariologist and rector of the shrine, gives a formal introduction to the symposium. He explains the title of the symposium “Mother of the Church” and what it means to call Mary this, relating it to the 8th Chapter of Lumen Gentium of Vatican II and the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe and then gives a logical outline of the upcoming talks and how they relate to the prerogatives of Mary as Coredemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate.
MaryCast Specials #73 (11min) Play – Dr. Mark Miravalle teaches on the apparitions of Fatima in anticipation of Pope Benedict arriving there May 11th, today. Dr. Mark focuses on the Third Secret of Fatima that was made public by the Vatican on June 2000. He gives some proper procedures for interpreting private revelations and their place in the public life of the Church, stressing that it is not for curiosity. He goes over some of the popular interpretations and some words by Sr. Lucia who received the messages.
