Since yesterday’s post for Scotus Month was on the radical Christology of Scotus, and is the firm basis for his Mariology, this is a natural post to follow up and lead us to tomorrow’s grand feast of the Immaculate Conception which Scotus was so famous for defending, and so central to the Franciscans of the Immaculate. The audio is a bit low at first but gets better.

In the seventh presentation at our International Centenary Symposium on the Mariology of Bl. John Duns Scotus held in Durham, England, Fr. Peter discusses the source of tradition present in the Mariology of Bl. John Duns Scotus.

Sabellianism taught that the 3 Persons in the Trinity were not distinct persons but rather 3 different modes or offices that the 1 God appeared in. Knowledge of their error is helpful in dealing with those who believe that the Bible is the sole transmitter of the Deposit of Faith. Sabellius broke from Sacred Tradition and it was this that orthodox opponents used to combat him.

Homily #100114 ( 06min) Play – St. Hilary of Poitiers fought the heresy of Arianism in his time. He did this by being true to the Magisterium. As the Catechism says:

Par 85 “The task of giving an authentic interpretation of the Word of God, whether in its written form or in the form of Tradition, has been entrusted to the living teaching office of the Church alone. Its authority in this matter is exercised in the name of Jesus Christ.” This means that the task of interpretation has been entrusted to the bishops in communion with the successor of Peter, the Bishop of Rome.

This simple policy guarantees that we won’t fall into error of personal interpretation whether of scripture as the Protestants do or of Tradition as the ultra Traditionalists do.

A little history of the apparition of Our Lady at Lourdes

“ I cannot promise you happiness in this life; only in the next”, said Our Lady to the little girl named Bernadette. The young girl lives out her life quietly, going to a convent and never seeking attention for herself. She gave all of herself to God and became a great saint. Her body is incorrupt and it looks so beautiful as if she is only sleeping. It is a marvel!

Homily #080329 ( 07min) Play – Tradition holds, and the Church teaches, that Our Lord first appeared to His Mother after His Resurrection. So when the Gospel writers say that our Lord first appeared to Mary Magdalen, this does not exclude the possibility that he appeared to His Mother before this.

We apologize for the delay in getting this episode of “No Apologies” on the air. The Airmaria production team was on a field trip last week to Steubenville, Ohio, and Bloomington, Indiana, and with limited internet access during this time, we were unable to post this episode.
