Peter Fehlner explains the importance of the Portiuncula Chapel in Assisi where St. Francis started his order and saw it grow. Father explains this in relation to the plenary indulgence that the Pope gave to the chapel. He also mentions the indulgence given to the church where Father was preaching at the National Shrine to Our Lady of Guadalupe where a plenary indulgence can be received on several occasions during the year.

Saint Francis of Assisi, the founder of the Franciscan Order, has been called “the most beautiful image of Jesus that has ever been in the Catholic Church.” He built the first Christmas crib in 1223. His great devotion was to the sorrows of Jesus. Jesus put the imprint of His wounded hands and feet and side upon Saint Francis’ body in the year. 1224. Saint Francis died in 1226 when he was only forty-four years old.
