Homily #101002 ( 08min) Play – On this the Feast of the Guardian Angels Fr. Ignatius preaches on the nature of these heavenly helpers. He mentions how they are superior to us and so we can not name them but they are given to us by God as helpers toward our salvation and sanctification which is a great grace.

Homily #100207 ( 14min) Play – In today’s Gospel we see St. Peter being Peter, that is, he has the best of intentions and yet is very imperfect in carrying them out. He wants to obey when Our Lord asks him to set out for the deep in his boat, and does, but he complains first, only to see how unworthy he is when Our Lord manifests his holiness with the miracle of the great catch of fish. Fr Angelo compares this to the first reading of Isaiah where Isaiah sees the holiness of God and knows he is unworthy to be His messenger and the need for God’s gift of sanctification to be made worthy.
Ave Maria! Mass readings
1: Isa 6:1-2,3-8
R: Ps 138:1-5,7-8
2: 1 Cor 15:1-11

Ave Maria Meditations
?

St. Peter of Alcantara was a priest well acquainted with suffering. He took upon himself many penances. His Feast day is Oct. 22nd and he is a model for the acceptance of sufferings.
?
A person’s daily sufferings, borne in either patient resignation or joy, and joined to the Holy Cross of Our Lord is a mark of eternal glory. To reject sufferings, sacrifices, humiliations, and mortifications in this life is to walk the broad and easy way that leads to destruction (Matt 7:13-14). Our Lord himself clearly stated that we are to deny our desires, take up our cross daily and follow Him (Mark 8:34-36). Our Lord is calling us out of our selfish self-centered lives and into “the works (Will) of Him Who sent Me.” (John 9:4).

Homily #080922 ( 9min) Play – The light all receive in baptism is faith. We must be witnesses to our faith in the world by taking up our cross daily and follow Christ for the conversion and sanctification of the world, in imitation of the recent example of St Maximilian Mary Kolbe.
