MaryCast Specials #68 (08min) Play – Dr. Mark Miravalle gives a synopsis of the events on March 25 in Rome as many theologians and bishops and even Cardinals gathered for the Roman Forum sponsored by Inside the Vatican to discuss how opportune the time might be for the proclamation of the 5th Marian Dogma. The panel was unanimous in its conviction that now is the opportune time for the declaration especially as an antidote to the current crisis that seems to be a full out attack on the Church. The event can be viewed at the Inside the Vatican Web Site.
MaryCast Specials #67 (07min) Play – Mark Miravalle continues from his previous video where he asks us to defend Pope Benedict and pray for the declaration of the Fifth Marian Dogma, Mary as Coredemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate. He notes how it was in a time of life threatening crisis that Pope Pius IX declared the dogma of the Immaculate Conception in 1854 and how the Papacy then enjoyed over a century of growing prestige. Is it a coincidence, then, that as the persecution mounts against Pope Benedict he has started using the title “Mediatrix of Graces” for Mary. Yes, now is the time to pray for this declaration!!
MaryCast Specials #66 (09min) Play – Mark Miravalle asks us to defend Pope Benedict and pray for the declaration of the Fifth Marian Dogma, relating Pope Benedict’s persecution to that of Jesus. He points out that it was not until Pope Pius IX was similarly persecuted and had to flee for his life from Rome in 1848 that he declared the dogma of the Immaculate Conception in 1854. The Papacy then enjoyed over a century of growing prestige. Yes, let us pray for this!!

The Papal Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls (Italian: Basilica Papale di San Paolo fuori le Mura), commonly known as St Paul-without-the-Walls, is one of four churches that are the great ancient major basilicas. The basilica was founded by the Roman Emperor Constantine I over the burial place of Saint Paul, where it was said that, after the Apostle’s execution, his followers erected a memorial, called a cella memoriae. This first edifice was expanded under Valentinian I, in the 370s. In 386, Emperor Theodosius I began the erection of a much larger and more beautiful basilica with a nave and four aisles with a transept; the work including the mosaics was not completed till the pontificate of Leo I (440-461). In the 5th century it was even larger than the Old St. Peter’s Basilica.
Marycast #126 (10min) Play – On March 25th, 2010, Feast of the Annunciation, a Day of Dialogue will be held in Rome on the timeliness of a papal declaration of the 5th Marian Dogma, Coredemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate. The event will be sponsored and moderated by the Vatican Forum of Inside the Vatican magazine and and St. Thomas More College. It will include discussions from an international group of several major Marian theologians, bishops and cardinals.
Dr. Miravalle addresses the many reasons why it is an appropriate time to proclaim the dogma and addresses some objections. He also asks us to pray for the success of this historic event.
Homily #100114 (06min) Play – St. Hilary of Poitiers fought the heresy of Arianism in his time. He did this by being true to the Magisterium. As the Catechism says:
Par 85 “The task of giving an authentic interpretation of the Word of God, whether in its written form or in the form of Tradition, has been entrusted to the living teaching office of the Church alone. Its authority in this matter is exercised in the name of Jesus Christ.” This means that the task of interpretation has been entrusted to the bishops in communion with the successor of Peter, the Bishop of Rome.
This simple policy guarantees that we won’t fall into error of personal interpretation whether of scripture as the Protestants do or of Tradition as the ultra Traditionalists do.
I ask your prayers as I prepare for a pilgrimage to holy places in Italy
including Siena, Assisi, and Rome. Ave Maria! SrJMMfti
Prayers for Pilgrims
Pilgrimage is traditionally a journey to a holy place — a place where saints have walked, a place where God has met people and blessed them.
People through the ages have journeyed with God on pilgrimage — to perform a penance, to ask for healing, to pray for places where there is war or national disaster, to pray for friends.
Pilgrimage is an opportunity to travel lightly, to walk free of daily routines, to meet people, to make friends, to enjoy and celebrate God’s creation. An opportunity, too, in the traveling, in the conversations, and in the silences to reflect on the journey of our lives and on our journey homeward to God.
Prayers before setting out on a pilgrimage
God of the guiding star, the bush that blazes
SHOW US YOUR WAY
God of the stormy seas, the Bread that nourishes
TEACH US YOUR TRUTH
God of the still, small voice, the wind that blows where it chooses
FILL US WITH LIFE
God of the elements, of our inward and outward journeys
SET OUR FEET ON YOUR ROAD TODAY.
MAY GOD BLESS US WITH A SAFE JOURNEY
MAY THE ANGELS AND SAINTS TRAVEL WITH US
MAY WE LIVE THIS DAY IN JUSTICE AND JOY. AMEN.
Fr. Angelo from our friary here in Griswold is now in Rome for our General Chapter which will take place there on Pentecost (really the day before Pentecost, this Saturday.) Many important decisions will be made for the Franciscan of the Immaculate so please keep Fr. Angelo and all the friars taking part in the Chapter in your prayers in these next few days. You can read more about it on Fr. Angelo’s Blog, Maryvictrix.wordpress.com
