Mary Vitamin – The Woman of the Bible and Our Mother

Mary Vitamin

Mary Vitamin for August 5th

Topic: The Woman of the Bible and Our Mother

Quote:

[Mary] is the real, physical Mother of the Messiah; she is the real mystical Mother of the Church, the new people of God. This is the thread, that, without a break in continuity, starts with Genesis and reaches to Revelation, passing through Cana and Calvary.

Father Stefano Manelli, FI, All Generations Shall Call Me Blessed, (Academy of the Immaculate: 1989), 356.

Meditation:

Fr. Stefano Manelli, FI

On this subject, a passage interesting and rich in insight, accurate as it is delicate, has been written by I. de La Potterie:

A very important insight of modern exegesis has brought to light how the mystery of Mary in some way forms a synthesis of all of the preceding revelation about the people of God, (more…)

Our Immaculate and Sorrowful Heavenly Mother

Ave  Maria  Meditations

Mary, Coredemptrix

You are blessed among women, Coredemptrix! Blessed One selected in preference to all who are blessed! Chosen One, singular among all who are chosen! Priceless Pearl that belongs in the treasury of God’s wisdom! Mother, you are the Glory of Mothers! We seek you, O Lady, and in all sincerity turn to you in prayer. Help us in our weakness; turn away from us all disgrace. Who is more worthy of entreating the Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ than you, blessed Mary, who live with your Son and speak with Him? Speak, Mother, for your Son listens to you; and whatever you desire you will receive. Invoke His holy name in our behalf.

- St. Bernard (+1153)

O Mary, Mary, bearer of the fire of love, and dispenser of mercy! Mary, Co-redemptrix of the human race, when you clothed the Word with your flesh, the world was redeemed. Christ paid its ransom with His Passion and you paid it with the sorrows of your body and soul.

-St. Catherine of Siena

Think of Mary; Call on Mary!

Ave Maria Meditations

The Holy Name of Mary

Just as the salvation of the world began with the Hail Mary, so the salvation of each individual is bound up with it this prayer … brought to a dry and barren world the Fruit of Life, and. if well said, will cause the Word of God to take root in the soul and bring forth Jesus, the Fruit of Life.

The Hail Mary is a heavenly dew which waters the earth of our soul and makes it bear its fruit in due season. The soul which is not watered by this heavenly dew bears no fruit but only thorns and briars, and merits only God’s condemnation.

We know from experience that those who.show positive signs of being among the elect, appreciate and love the Hail Mary and are always glad to say it. The closer they are to God, the more they love this prayer … I do not know how this should be, but it is perfectly true; and I know no surer way of discovering whether a person belongs to God than by finding out if he loves saying the Hail Mary and the rosary.

It is the perfect compliment the most High God paid to Mary through his archangel in order to win her heart. So powerful was the effect of this greeting upon her, on account of its hidden delights, that despite her great humility, she gave her consent to the incarnation of the Word. If you say the Hail Mary properly, the compliment will infallibly earn you Mary’s good will.

St. Louis de Montfort

Ave Maria Meditations

Answer Quickly, O Virgin!

Mary’s Consent

When Our Lady stood up, a queenly child, and uttered her fiat to the Angel of God, her words began to make Christ’s voice. Those first words of consent had already spoken Christ’s last words of consent; her “1 commit myself to you, do whatever you like with me” were already spoken by Christ in her; they were one and the same with his: “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit”. Ad Jesum per Mariam

passion and compassion

MOTHER OF FAIR LOVE AND QUEEN OF THE HEART OF JESUS

“Ad Jesum per Mariam” :   To Jesus through Mary.

THE lesson of this retreat would be incomplete and the King of Love Himself would reproach me if I did not speak to you, apostles of His Divine Heart, of Mary the Mother of fair Love; she was intimately and inseparably united to the Word in the divine plan of the Redemption. He was the Redeemer, she the Immaculate Co-Redemptrix.

Let us then respect and adore the design of the Most High by keeping the Hearts of Jesus and Mary perfectly united. To them be honor and glory for ever and ever! My road to get to the Holy of Holies, to the very heart of Jesus, to the most intimate recesses of that Sanctuary of Justice and of Love, is perfectly mapped out for me. The necessary and direct road is Mary. No one goes to the Father save through the Son, “neither doth anyone know the Father, but the Son and he to whom it shall please the Son to reveal Him.” So, too, we may say that no one goes to the King unless led to Him by Mary, nor does any one know the King but he to whom His beauty is revealed by the Queen.
