A Chilean saint, Fr. Alberto Hurtado (d. 1952), often repeated the saying of the famous French priest, Lacordaire, in speaking of the pathway to holiness: “It is proper for the noblest hearts to discover the most urgent need of their epoch and to consecrate themselves to it.” Saints always have their feet on the ground and their minds on God or at least trying to discern the Will of God for the transformation of their societies. In this perspective there is little doubt that many of those who strive for holiness today will consecrate themselves to the most urgent need of our epoch: namely, putting an end to the wholesale slaughter of the innocents by modern day Herods and Pharaohs. It is to this end that this little book is written. This manual is meant to shake people up and call them to the battle to save lives and souls. The day is far gone and the need has grown increasingly urgent.
Modern American society and, by extension, the rest of the world that is influenced by American politics and culture, is be systematically dismantled before our very eyes by a spiritual e of evil that is not recognized as such. If the devil were to appear to the children of this age as he truly is, in all his ugliness and horror, he would be roundly rejected. So, of course he doesn’tappear as he truly is. This clever being, it is said, “disguises himself as an angel of light”(2 Cor 11:14)3 and has found countless illusory costumes in which to conduct his evil, all the while maintaining an appearance of political correctness and acceptability in polite society. Real Christians don’t fall for his deceit, though. We have eyes to see the truth because we are followers of the Truth, and it’s time to “consecrate” ourselves to the Truth in a new and bold way. “Get a life!” An angry shout from a passing care reached our ears. And again, a little later, came the same cry from another car: “Get a life!”
Irony of ironies.
For this is exactly what we hope to do: get a life (saved).
Now “Get a life!” is certainly not the worst thing that someone hears as they pray in front of a Planned Parenthood or abortion mill. Much worse remarks are flung at us. Yet I am struck by this irony. Can it be that they do not realize that these places deal in death? Some have said we are ‘blocking freedom’. Freedom from what? Is freedom the same as liberty? Can we have liberty without life? Isn’t life the first right of an American? Is there a difference between freedom and license? Does anyone know this?
“It’s not your body”, is hollered at us. No, it is not. Nor is it the body of the woman that is being sacrificed on the altar of abortion. It is not her body either. She may well, in most cases, have had a choice prior to this moment. But now there should be no “choice” which is a word perverted to mean abortion. (more…)

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.(Romans 6:23)
+
The Culture of Death, that is what Venerable John Paul II called our modern society. We have an ever expanding culture and society that legalizes the taking of the lives of the unborn and is now gazing at where other populations can be reduced as well. The profitable and defended abortion industry provides a win-win for the demonic agenda against life. The life of the unborn child is taken immediately. But abortion (and the contraceptive hormone pill ) is linked to the development of cancers in the mothers later on. That physical life could potentially be taken as well. But the spiritual death of all involved is something we cannot guage. The death of souls.
+
The abortion industry is protected by law. Often uniformed officers are outside to guard the facility. It is like guarding Auschwitz. The killing is legal. The performing of the act by some who call themselves ‘medical professionals’ is a travesty. Their souls are at stake too. There are the multitudes who vote for ‘the woman’s right to choose’. To choose what? What to have for lunch? No, to choose to take the life of another, to stop a beating heart.
+
It all starts long before the appointment to see the abortionist. It starts with the society that encourages pre-marital sex and co-habitation. It starts with an ‘educational’ system that mandates ‘sex education’ for children to the early loss of their innocence and the experimenting of sexual encounters. These things are so main stream and have been for so long that it seems the ‘norm’. This indoctrination into sinful habits brings dire consequences.
+
God is merciful. He knows so many people hardly know right from wrong, especially the young people. But the wages of sin is still death even when one perhaps cannot recognize sin. God is the Author of life! Sin can be repented of. While there is life, there is also the hope of eternal life. Jesus forgives. We pray for all those entangled in the Culture of Death, that they will come to know the mercy of God through true repentance; we pray for the conversion of hearts.
The stone for the tomb of the unborn babies’ bodies

at the end of the homily
St. Matthew’s Gospel (Mat. 2: 1-18) describes the events that took place in Bethlehem at the time of Christ’s birth and King Herod’s order that all male infants, two years old and younger, then living in and around Bethlehem be killed. He ordered this in an attempt to kill the new born King who he saw as a threat to his own power. The Book of Micah in the Bible predicted that the Messiah would come from Bethlehem: “But you, Bethlehem out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.” (Micah 5: 2) We call these Holy Innocents martyrs because (more…)
Roving Reporter #78 – Fr. Peter Fehlner with Pierluigi Molla (13min) >>> Play
Ave Maria!
Pierluigi Molla is the son of Saint Gianna Molla who died in 1962 after giving birth to his little sister. St. Gianna developed a fibroma in her uterus during the second month of her pregnancy which required immediate surgery to save her, but since it would certainly terminate her pregnancy she put it off to save her child. Despite the best efforts of the doctors they could not save the heroic mother.
Pierluigi came to Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine in La Crosse, WI to give a pro-life talk on the first anniversary of the opening of the Shrine. While he was there he graciously consented to an interview with Fr. Peter, the rector of the shrine, and shares his memories of his mother and his thoughts on what her life gave witness to.
