Ave Maria Meditations

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary of Guadalupe, that in thy celestial apparitions on the mount of Tepeyac, thou didst promise to show thy compassion and pity towards all who, loving and trusting thee, seek thy help and call upon thee in their necessities and afflictions.
Thou didst promise to hearken to our supplications, to dry our tears and to give us consolation and relief. Never was it known (more…)

Ave Maria Meditations

Some of the words of Our Lady to St. Juan Diego:
Know for certain, littlest of my sons, that I am the perfect and perpetual Virgin Mary, Mother of the True God through Whom everything lives, the Lord of all things near and far, the Master of heaven and earth.
I wish and intensely desire that in this place my sanctuary be erected. Here I will demonstrate and exhibit and give all my love, my compassion, my help and my protection to the people. I am your merciful Mother. The merciful Mother of all of you who live united in this land, and of all mankind, of all those who love me. Here I will hear their weeping, their sorrow, and will remedy, and alleviate all their multiple sufferings, necessities and misfortunes.
Listen, put it into your heart, my youngest and dearest son, that the thing that frightens you, the thing that afflicts you, is nothing: do not let it disturb you…Am I not here, I who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am 1 not the source of your joy? Are you not in the hollow of my mantle, in the crossing of my arms? Do you need something more? Let nothing else worry you or disturb you. (more…)

Novena in Honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe

First Day
Dearest Lady of Guadalupe, fruitful Mother of holiness, teach me your ways of gentleness and strength. Hear my humble prayer offered with heartfelt confidence to beg this favor……
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.
Second Day
O Mary, conceived without sin, I come to your throne of grace to share the fervent devotion of your faithful Mexican children who call to you under the glorious Aztec title of Guadalupe. Obtain for me a lively faith to do your Son’s holy will always: May His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Ave Maria Meditations encore

In 1531, the Mother of God appeared to a native Mexican named Juan Diego. She would ask him to have the bishop build a church there at the apparition site. When the bishop asked for a sign, roses were given but more than that, the image of the Mother was on the cactus fiber tilma of St. Juan Diego and fibers that should not last more than 20 years are still in perfect condition almost 500 years later. And within a decade of the apparition, almost all of Mexico was Roman Catholic. |

Homily #091211s ( 17min) Play – Fr. Angelo gives the homily for the vigil Mass for the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe which is a Solemnity here at Our Lady of Guadalupe Friary. He relates the story of St. Juan Diego and how Our Lady asks him to give a message to the bishop that she wants a chapel built on Tepiac Hill near the Aztec Capitol. He particulary relates how Our Lady wanted Juan Diego to become willing himself to accept the task. This is especially relavant in that today David Houseal will be entering Novitiate here at Our Lady of Guadalupe friary where he will be preparing to make religious vows that includes Consideration to Our Lady in this Missionary order of the FI. So on this joyous day and throughout the year, please keep David in your prayers as he prepares to be another Juan Diego. Oh, and his new religious name is Fra David Maria of St Joseph and and Bl. Elizabeth of the Holy Trinity or just Fra David for short.

Homily #091015 ( 06min) Play – For a time frivolous conversations there (in the convent), too, checked her progress toward perfection, but finally in her thirty-first year, she abandoned herself entirely to God. A vision showed her the very place in hell to which her apparently light faults would have led her, and she was told by Our Lord that all her conversation must be with heaven.

Homily #091013 ( 08min) Play – When he was raised to the throne, the virtues of his earlier years, simplicity, gentleness, humility and a tender charity, but above all his angelic purity, shone with new brightness. By a rare inspiration of God, though he married to content his nobles and people, he preserved perfect chastity in the wedded state. So little did he set his heart on riches, that three times when he saw a servant robbing his treasury, he let him escape, saying the poor man needed the gold more than he. He loved to stand at his palace-gate, speaking kindly to the poor beggars and lepers who crowded about him, and many of whom he healed of their diseases. The people rejoiced in having a Saint for their king.
Today also is the anniversary of the “Miracle of the Sun” at Fatima.
