Ave Maria! Leticia Velasquez describes her book that she is writing on the trials and joys of being the mother of a Down Syndrome child. She covers motivations for the book, i.e. the culture against children with disabilities which she continuously runs into. She has titled the book “A Special Mother is Born” referring to herself that when her special-needs-child was born, she was reborn into a new kind of motherhood. It will consist of 24 stories of her experience both dealing with the needs of her daughter and dealing with this anti life culture. It is due out in the fall and she hopes it will give such mothers what she could not find for herself, good information about how to make the bold step to embrace this beautiful kind of motherhood. She also wants to fight against the Hitlarian eugenics culture that is obsessed with a perfect race. Ave Maria! +++ |

For the 4th talk in our symposium “Mother of the Church” on Marian Coredemption in the National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, La Crosse, Wisconsin on August 21, 2010, Archbishop Raymond Burke, the founder of the shrine and Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, gives a talk “Our Lady of Guadalupe: Mother of the Church”. Abp. Burke talks on Mary as Mother of the Church in light of the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe by examining the Nican Mopohua which is the most scholarly and earliest written account of the apparition composed from1540 to 1545 (very soon after the apparitions) by the Aztec noble Antonio Volariano. He then compares this to the theological reflections of St. Bonaventure on the nature of the Church and Our Lady’s involvement in it. Drew Mariani of Relevant Radio was MC of the symposium. Dr. Mark Miravalle gives the third talk called “Now is the Time for the Fifth Dogma” for our symposium “Mother of the Church” on Marian Coredemption in the National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, La Crosse, Wisconsin on August 21, 2010. Here he gives an amazingly compact run down of pretty much everything about this doctrine. He covers the other Marian doctrines that where proclaimed before Coredemption and how these relate it. He explains, what the doctrine contains, what it means for us, what it does not mean, its importance, its status in regard to becoming a dogma, mentions that virtually every saint, pope, and approved apparition of Mary in the last one hundred years supports the doctrine. He also answers common objections. Whew! all in less than an hour. Listening to this talk is time well spent if you want a thorough understanding of Mary Coredemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate or, in other words, Mother of all Peoples, Mother of the Church. Enjoy!
