Homily #110731ls ( 17min) Play-

His Eminence Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke preaches at the 3rd Anniversary of the dedication of the main church at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe of which he is the founder. He focuses how the Lord dwells with us and the importance of places of worship which reflects the fact that Christ is God made man and dwells in a special way in our churches in the Holy Eucharist.  He relates this in particular to the request that Our Lady made to Bishop Zumarraga through St. Juan Diego to build a chapel. He exhorts us to make our hearts, homes and churches a dwelling place for Our Lord.

Ave Maria!

For our Symposium “Mother of the Church” on Marian Coredemption in the National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, La Crosse, Wisconsin on August 21, 2010, Luis Cardinal Aponte-Martinez, Archbishop Emeritus of San Juan, Puerto Rico gives the second talk titled “Our Lady of Guadalupe: The Coredemptrix and the New Evangelization”. Cardinal Aponte has been one of the most energetic promoters of the dogma of Mary as Coredemptrix. In this talk he uses his warm humor to draw connections between the great evangelization of the Americas through the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the promise of a similarly fruitful period of worldwide evangelization in our own time should we honor Mary by declaring the Fifth Dogma. By doing so we will fulfill the desire of Pope JPII for a New Evangelization. He says the fruit will be the reconversion of formerly Christian lands beck to the faith, the conversion of new Christian lands, Christians will be united in humility and the world will have peace all as only a mother can give. He points out that by declaring the Fifth Dogma of Mary as Coredemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate we are declaring her Mother of the Church and Mother of all Peoples and so we will obtain all the associated motherly spiritual gifts for the whole world. He gives a final exhortation for us to all go out and pray and be active in promoting the dogma to friends, family and even to our pastors and bishops.

Drew Mariani of Relevant Radio was MC of the symposium.

Congratulations to Archbishop Raymond Burke

Thursday, July 29th, 2010
Ave Maria!
Congratulations to Archbishop Raymond Burke for his appointment as a member of the Congregation of the Causes of Saints.
Diane at Te Deum Laudamus and her commenters has compiled a list of the many responsibilities given to Bishop Burke since going to Rome. Here is the list:
The story was also picked up by Patrick Madrid and Thomas Peters both of whom agree with Diane that this flies in the face of some dissenting Catholics who suggest that he was moved to Rome to silence his orthodox views.  Not only is this not the case but he is a prime candidate for Cardinal.
La Crosse – Marian Symposium
If you wish to congratulate him personally on his latest appointment, he will be coming on August 21st to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, WI  which he was instrumental in having built while he was the bishop there. The occasion will be the 2010 Marian Symposium, MARY: COREDEMPTRIX, MEDIATRIX, ADVOCATE presented by the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate, the  Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Vox Populi Mariae Mediatrici:
The august speakers will be:
HIS EMINENCE LUIS CARDINAL APONTE MARTINEZ – Archbishop Emeritus, San Juan, Puerto Rico

HIS EXCELLENCY ARCHBISHOP RAYMOND L. BURKE – Prefect, Apostolic Signatura, Rome

MSGR. ARTHUR B. CALKINS – Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, Mariologist

Roving Reporter #78 – Fr. Peter Fehlner with Pierluigi Molla ( 13min) >>> Play

Ave Maria!

Pierluigi Molla is the son of Saint Gianna Molla who died in 1962 after giving birth to his little sister.  St. Gianna developed a fibroma in her uterus during the second month of her pregnancy which required immediate surgery to save her, but since it would certainly terminate her pregnancy she put it off to save her child. Despite the best efforts of the doctors they could not save the heroic mother.

Pierluigi came to Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine in La Crosse, WI to give a pro-life talk on the first anniversary of the opening of the Shrine. While he was there he graciously consented to an interview with Fr. Peter, the rector of the shrine, and shares his memories of his mother and his thoughts on  what her life gave witness to.

Roving Reporter #70 – Fr. Peter interviews the founder of Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine. ( 26min) >>> Play

Ave Maria!

Archbishop Raymond Burke is at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, WI celebrating the first anniversary of the shrine’s opening. The Rector of the shrine, our very own Fr. Peter Fehlner, took the opportunity to ask him for an interview on his role as the “Chief Justice” of the Catholic Church and the significance of the shrine in a modern, relativistic world and the Archbishop graciously agreed.

Taking his queue from an editorial from Dr. Robert Moynihan in the June issue of Inside the Vatican, Fr. Peter asks Abp. Burke his opinion on two different types of justice prevailing in the world, one relativistic and the other based on absolutes like natural law and divine revelation.

This leads to many other questions on our current cultural, political, social and spiritual condition: Does relativism lead to tyranny and totalitarianism? Is it possible to have an appeal to a higher authority than the US Supreme Court? Is relativism the cause of our current economic mess? Is strict separation of Church and state viable? How is religion and the Catholic Church important in secular affairs today? Is there a connection between your role as Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura and your Marian devotion? Does Our Lady add an element of mercy to the judicial process? Does Our Lady have a role in resolving the current crisis in the secular world? What role does this Shrine have today in the Church? Can Our Lady be a means to solve the ecumenical crisis.

And there are more provocative questions like: Can Our Lady be the basis for true and lasting peace, sort of a “Pax Mariana”, that would replace peace based on worldly power which comes and goes like “Pax Romana”, “Pax Britannica” and perhaps even “Pax Americana”?

Listen to a whole world of insight from this very Marian Prelate.
