Variety #161 – Feast of Our Lady of Nazareth, Rome, Italy (14min) >>> Play
Ave Maria!
Here’s a glimpse of the procession that was held on the outskirts of Rome for the feast of “Holy Mary of Nazareth” parish, one of the parishes that our Franciscan Friars have care of here in Italy. We’ve added to the footage a few reflections from the book Devotion to Mary, written by our founder, Father Stefano M. Manelli, to add some depth and reflection to this short, catholic-culture film. Included are also some piano pieces played by Sister Maria Settima Manelli, a hymn or two from our Friars, and also some faint but beautiful hymns taken from the monastery of our contemplative Franciscan Sisters here in Italy at Città di Castello.
The Papal Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls (Italian: Basilica Papale di San Paolo fuori le Mura), commonly known as St Paul-without-the-Walls, is one of four churches that are the great ancient major basilicas. The basilica was founded by the Roman Emperor Constantine I over the burial place of Saint Paul, where it was said that, after the Apostle’s execution, his followers erected a memorial, called a cella memoriae. This first edifice was expanded under Valentinian I, in the 370s. In 386, Emperor Theodosius I began the erection of a much larger and more beautiful basilica with a nave and four aisles with a transept; the work including the mosaics was not completed till the pontificate of Leo I (440-461). In the 5th century it was even larger than the Old St. Peter’s Basilica.
Ave Maria! This is Part Two that continues from yesterday’s post on the FI’s in Italy and their “Field School” that they hold each year with youth in the majestic Italian Alps.
Ave Maria! This one is by the FI’s in Italy about their “Field School” that they hold each year with youth in the majestic Italian Alps. The beautiful footage is set to music with Italian titles. Perhaps we will come up with a version with English titles, but really, the imagery says it all. Part 2 will be tomorrow.
Immaculate Music #13 – Missa Cantata TLM celebrating Our Lady of Good Counsel ( 3min) >>> Play
Ave Maria!
Fiddleback chasubles and Franciscan sandals come together in the extraordinary form of the Mass (Traditional Latin Mass) at Our Lady of Guadalupe Friary of the Franciscans of the Immaculate. The video is put to beautiful music from the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate, our sister order. The music was recorded in Italy and is a fine testimony to the high quality of their music program which, combined with the friar’s, is playing a major part in spearheading the liturgical music reform in Italy.
