Ave Maria!

Our newest radio station, With Our Mother Blest, in Bloomington, IN – WOMB 89.9 FM Ellettsville (the community of license) – is now on the air at full power! In fact, it was cranked up to full power a few weeks ago, but we have been so busy with three AirMaria road trips for conferences and then to World Youth Day in Madrid, that we have not been able to get this post up until now.

This is the 3rd radio station on the air belonging to our AirMaria Radio Network, the first being Holy Virgin Mary Radio, 91.9 FM Owego, NY, and the second being CorMariae, WPMW 88.5 FM Bayview, MA.

We are still fighting to find a tower location for Holy Name of Mary Radio, WHNM 89.5 FM Pawcatuck, CT.

With Our Mother Blest, WOMB 89.9 FM, is a very strategically located radio station because it reaches the 42, 000 college students and 3,000 professors that are at the University of Indiana in Bloomington. Simply put, for the first time Catholic radio content will be delivered via this station to one of the major intellectual centers of the United States and of the world.

We are currently an EWTN repeater, rebroadcasting the EWTN Radio satellite feed 24/7 with our own top of the hour ID’s chiming in every hour to comply with FCC regulations, but we plan to build our own studio at the new friary in the winter and to begin to add more of our own content as we become more capable.

See the progress on the new FI friary in Bloomington, Indiana. Volunteers and pros alike gather local rocks for the facade of the friary. Then you can see materials being lowered onto the roof to put the finishing touches on that. And finally you can see the new bells that will soon be added to the bell tower which you can see rising high above the roof.

Fr. Elias Mills of our Bloomington, Indiana friary recently interviewed the renowned Bishop Bruskewitz of Lincoln, Nebraska on current issues of faith and Church in America.  We are posting them here in a five part series. In the first part, in answering Fr. Elias questions, the bishop relates his thoughts about:

• His 50 years as a priest and bishop in the Church and all the changes and events in the time.
• His visits to shrines in Europe and Rome.
• His 19 years as Bishop of Lincoln.
• The graces that are ever needed for his office
• His work with John Paul II and Benedict XVI
• What these two papacies have done for the Church especially the continuity that they reaffirmed between the post and pre-Vatican II Church

Fi News #82 – Marian Friary in Progress ( 06min) >>> Play

Here is a video of the construction on the new Marian Friary of Our Lady Coredemptrix which started on March 25th, 2010 on the Feast of the Annunciation and shows the process up through August.The friary will be 22,000 square feet and have room for 28 friars with two floors, a partial basement and a bell tower that will be 86 feet high. The bell tower will have 3 bells from a local church that recently closed and the top 16 ft will be an illuminated cross. The friary is being built adjacent to the existing chapel on the property and will have direct access to the chapel’s main floor from the friary’s 2nd floor and to the chapel’s basement from the friary’s first floor.

The planned opening is spring 2011. Keep this project in your prayers.
