b. 1266 — d. 1308 DOCTOR SUBTILIS: THEOLOGIAN OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION and FOUNDER OF THE SCOTISTIC SCHOOL OF SCHOLASTIC THEOLOGY, a FRIAR MINOR
Blessed John Duns Scotus: Defender of the Immaculate Conception Next to St. Bonaventure, Bl. John is perhaps the most important and influential theologian in the history of the Franciscan Order. He was the founder of the Scotistic School in Theology, and until the time of the French Revolution his thought dominated the Roman Catholic faculties of theology in nearly all the major universities of Europe. He is chiefly known for his theology on the Absolute Kingship of Jesus Christ, the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and his philosophic refutation of evolution. |

St. Lawrence of Brindisi (1559-1619) Doctor of the Church God is love, and all his operations proceed from love. Once he wills to manifest that goodness by sharing his love outside himself, then the Incarnation becomes the supreme manifestation of his goodness and love and glory. So, Christ was intended before all other creatures and for his own sake. For him all things were created and to him all things must be subject, and God loves all creatures in and because of Christ. Christ is the first-born of every creature, and the whole of humanity as well as the created world finds its foundation and meaning in him. Moreover, this would have been the case even if Adam had not sinned. Saint Lawrence of Brindisi |

A little history of the apparition of Our Lady at Lourdes“ I cannot promise you happiness in this life; only in the next”, said Our Lady to the little girl named Bernadette. The young girl lives out her life quietly, going to a convent and never seeking attention for herself. She gave all of herself to God and became a great saint. Her body is incorrupt and it looks so beautiful as if she is only sleeping. It is a marvel!
TO PLACE A PETITION AT LOURDES: http://www.lourdes-france.org/index.php?contexte=en&id=499 History of Our Lady of Lourdes The Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in southern France is the most visited pilgrimage site in the world — principally because of the apparent healing properties of the waters of the spring that appeared during the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to a poor, fourteen-year-old girl, Bernadette Soubirous. The first apparition occurred February 11, 1858. (more…) |

Ineffabilis Deus: Apostolic Constitution issued by Bl. Pope Pius IX on December 8, 1854
“We declare, pronounce and define that the doctrine which holds that the most Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first instance of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege granted by Almighty God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the human race, was preserved free from all stain of original sin, is a doctrine revealed by God and therefore to be believed firmly and constantly by all the faithful.”

In this time of somewhat gloomy thoughts, let us recall the words of St. Paul: Whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. (Phil.4:8) And there are few things more lovely, more gracious, more just, more excellent and more pure to consider than the mysteries of Our Blessed Lady. Here is an encore meditation on the wondrous Miraculous Medal.
Daily Miraculous Medal Prayer of St. Maximilian Kolbe: O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you, and for all who do not have recourse to you, especially the enemies of the Church and those recommended to you.
