Conferences #141 – Fr. Ignatius on the Notion of Heroic Virtue ( 55min) >>> Play – |

Ave Maria!
Fr. Ignatius preached a mission in Cornwall, England on Heroic virtues. In this first talk he explains the notion of heroic virtue. He uses the universal call to holiness in the Bible, “You Must, therefore, Be Perfect…” (Mt. 5:49) to introduce us to an in-depth road map for developing the profound virtues that God desires to give us if we truly desire them and ask for the necessary graces. He bases this on the teachings of Pope Benedict XIV (1740-1758).

Homily #100831 ( 09min) Play – How many will be saved? Our Lord tells us that few will be saved. St. Thomas in his clarity and brevity says, “Those who are saved are in the minority.” Why did Our Lord give us this knowledge? He told us that we might never become presumptuous, that we always might be striving to enter the narrow gate. This is a widespread error in our day and age – everyone goes to Heaven. Let us not be fooled by the lukewarmness and religious indifference prevalent today. Let us work out our salvation in fear and trembling.
