Homily #100518 ( 08min) Play – St. Felix of Cantalica was born to peasant parents in Cantalice, Italy. As a boy he worked hard as a farm laborer and shepherd, and, in 1543, became a Capuchin lay brother at the Citta Ducale Monastery in Anticoli Corrado.  It is said that he was well noted for his piety. In 1547 he was sent to Rome as questor and spent his remaining 38 years aiding the sick and the poor. In Rome, Felix preached in the street, rebuked corrupt politicians and officials, and exhorted young men to stop leading dissolute lives. He also composed simple teaching canticles, and arranged for children to gather in groups to sing them as a way to teach them catechism. Felix was revered by all and was a companion of St. Philip Neri. He helped to revise St. Charles Borromeo’s rules for his order of Oblates.  St. Felix was buried in Rome at Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini. He was beatified on 1 October 1625 by Pope Urban VIII and canonized on 22 May 1712 by Pope Clement XI.

Standing Fast #28 – A Young Knight recites the Four Rules of Knighthood ( 2min) >>> Play

Ave Maria!

This was sent to us by someone who attended the last Knights of Lepanto Encampment with his son who is the main actor along with Fr. Angelo. He filmed it himself and his children edited it, pretty good for a first try. We need more Catholics doing this. Bravo!

They cover the four rules of being a knight that were discussed at the encampment. These are:

1. Morning Act of Offering

2. Daily Examination of Conscience

3. Treat your Mother with Respect

4. Treat your Sister(s) with Respect

This sounds really tough for a knight of any age, but for one so young! But, hey, no pain no gain. At least there is no “Clean your Room Every Day.” Or is this included in “Treat your Mother with Respect”?

Ave Maria!

Jun 22nd – Homily – Fr Angelo: Original Sin and Truth

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

Homily #080622 ( 22min) Play – The greatest paradox of our faith is the Cross. Foolishness? St Paul says that the foolishness of men is the wisdom of the Cross! Without an appreciation of Original Sin we will never understand the world we live in. People are slaves of their vices because they have learned to rationalize their choices. We use our mind to convince ourselves that good is evil and evil is good. The only way out of this pattern is Christ.
