Friday, November 26th, 2010

Ave Maria! Sometimes there is some good news about government…

Since “Eucharist” means “Thanksgiving,” this story is well timed. (My thanks to Opinionated Catholic for spotlighting this story.)

The State of Louisiana has modified its already beautiful state flag. Here’s the flag they already had:

Then therefore [Pontius Pilate] delivered him to them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him forth. And bearing his own cross, he went forth to that place which is called Calvary, but in Hebrew Golgotha.

An Apostle of Eucharistic Adoration

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009
Ave Maria Meditations
August 2nd:  St. Peter Julian Eymard, Apostle of Eucharistic Adoration

stpje

St. Peter Julian Eymard was born in France in 1811.  He was ordained in 1834 for the Society of Mary. Because of his extraordinary love for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and realizing there was no Order of priests dedicated to perpetual adoration, he was permitted to found such an Order–the Congregation of theBlessed Sacrament. He also founded the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament.  His written works on the Holy Eucharist are classics in that field. He died in 1868 and his feast day is August 2nd. The following are a few excerpts from his writings.

EXAMINE YOUR CONSCIENCE IN THE MORNING UNDER THE EYES OF JESUS IN THE HOST

On awakening, make the sign of the cross. On arising say: “0 Sacrament Most Holy, 0 Sacrament Divine! All praise and all thanksgiving be every moment thine! Blessed be the Holy and Immaculate Conception of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God.

ADORE our Lord as your King who has called you today to work in his amiable service and for his honor and glory. Render him this day the homage of your mind, your heart, your body and your life for he deserves it all.

THANK our Lord for having kept you alive; thank him for all the graces received during your life (baptism, first communion, vocation). Rejoice at the honor and the happiness of spending this whole day in union with our Divine Lord in his Sacrament of love: such a day may be worth an entire life, the whole of Paradise.

July: Month of the Most Precious Blood

Friday, July 3rd, 2009
Ave Maria Meditations

To the Precious Blood of Jesus:

O Precious Blood of Jesus, infinite price of sinful man’s redemption, both drink and laver of our souls, Thou who dost plead continually the cause of man before the throne of infinite mercy; from the depths of my heart, I adore Thee, and so far as I am able, I would requite Thee for the insults and outrages which Thou dost continually receive from human beings, and especially from those who rashly dare to blaspheme Thee.

+

Who would not bless this Blood of infinite value? Who doth not feel within himself the fire and love of Jesus who shed it all for us? What would be my fate, had I not been redeemed by this divine Blood? Who hath drawn it from the veins of my Savior, even to the last drop? Ah, this surely was the work of love. O infinite love, grant that every heart and every tongue may be enabled to praise Thee, magnify Thee and give Thee thanks now and for evermore. Amen.

Ave Maria Meditations

There, where my dear Jesus dwells,

where He is enthroned in the tabernacle,

there I wish to be kneeling continually.

There, I wish to pray unceasingly:

Jesus, I love You deeply.

Hidden Love, I adore You.

Abandoned Love, I adore You.

Despised Love, I adore You.

Love trampled underfoot, I adore You.

Infinite Love, dying on the Cross for us, I adore You.

My dear Lord and Savior,

make it be that I am all love and expiation

toward the Most Blessed Sacrament

in the heart of Your most loving Mother Mary.

Amen.

Communist atheistic rule for many years and who taught and

brought the faith to many,

keeping the love of the Lord in the most Blessed Sacrament alive)

Our Lady of Fatima

MAY 13TH: OUR LADY OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT/

OUR LADY OF FATIMA

Mother of the Eucharist

OUR LADY OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

This title was given to our Blessed Mother in May 1868 by Saint Peter Julian Eymard to honor her in her relationship to the Holy Eucharist and to place her before us as a model in our duties and devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. Our Lady gives witness to being Christian. In her conduct toward the Blessed Sacrament, we learn what ours should be!

Mary, Mother of the Eucharist

Sunday, February 8th, 2009
 Ave Maria Meditations
Pope Benedict XVI writes in his Encyclical Sacramentum Caritatis on The Eucharist and the Virgin Mary

33. From the relationship between the Eucharist and the individual sacraments, and from the eschatological significance of the sacred mysteries, the overall shape of the Christian life emerges, a life called at all times to be an act of spiritual worship, a self-offering pleasing to God. Although we are all still journeying toward the complete fulfillment of our hope, this does not mean that we cannot already gratefully acknowledge that God’s gifts to us have found perfect fulfillment in the Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our Mother. Mary’s assumption body and soul into heaven is for us a sign of sure hope for it shows us on our pilgrimage through time, the eschatological goal of which the sacrament of the Eucharist enables us even now to have a foretaste. Our Lady’s Chapel (FI) New Bedford in the News

Ave Maria!
Fr. Dominic F.I. and Our Lady’s Chapel in New Bedford were featured in the local newspaper the Standard Times today. The 6th Anniversary of their Eucharistic Adoration program was spotlighted. Here is the article from their site SouthCoastToday.com
A seven-hour Eucharistic Adoration Prayer Vigil will be held Sunday in the sanctuary of Our Lady?s Chapel.

NEW BEDFORD ? Wearing a simple gray robe and sandals, Father Dominic enters the newsroom of the city newspaper. He walks slowly with head bent, and surrounded by cubicles, computers and harsh fluorescent lighting, he is an anachronism, otherworldly ? 13th century meets 21st.

He is the bearer of glad tidings, yet he speaks so quietly the listener strains to hear. The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate will celebrate the sixth anniversary of Perpetual Adoration at Our Lady’s Chapel with a seven-hour Eucharistic Adoration Prayer Vigil beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday. The prayers will be offered for priests and religious. Everyone is welcome, he whispered. … more on SouthCoastToday.com

Homily #080517 ( 12min) Play – The whole life of St Paschal Baylon was rooted in the True Presence of Our Lord in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Many today ignore Our Lord’s Eucharistic Presence and chase after visions and revelations – seeking their own consolations instead of the consolations we receive from being in His presence in the Blessed Sacrament..
