FRANCISCANS OF THE IMMACULATE, IN ASSOCIATION WITH A DAY WITH MARY

Blessed John Duns Scotus, hold-ing a scroll with a paraphrase of his doctrine about how the Immaculate Conception ties in with the absolute primacy of Christ: ?Christ preserved the Blessed Virgin from every stain of sin; otherwise He would not have been Perfect Redeemer.?From an article by Charles Balic, OFM, written in 1966 to commemorate the seventh centenary of the birth of blessed John Duns Scotus

A disputed question…

Under the above heading, The Berwickshire News of Tuesday 12 April, 1966, printed a letter to the editor in which it was stated that we are still uncertain about the exact birthplace of the great British philosopher and theologian, John Duns Scotus… (more…)

FI News #16 – Fr. Elias on the 8th Symposium on Marian Coredemption >>> Play

Ave Maria!

Fr. Elias presents the 8th International Symposium on Marian Coredemption which is being held at Fatima July 17-19th by the Franciscans of the Immaculate in union with the Day with Mary apostolate in England. This year’s theme is Co-redemption as key to a correct understanding of Redemption. The symposium can be combined with a pilgrimage to Fatima from July 12-20

This symposium is part of one of our primary apostolates, promoting the Dogmatic declaration of Mary as Coredeemer, which this year will be combined with an initiative by Dr. Mark Miravalle at Vox Popoli to gather signatures for a petition to present to Pope Benedict XVI. This initiative was spear headed by over forty Bishops and Cardinals who believe we are in great need of Mary’s help. You can read the letter by Mark Miravalle about how you can submit your petition to the Holy Father and how these Bishops and Cardinals have already done so. And, you can see the book on the acts of a special symposium held on May 3rd to the 7th, 2005 in Fatima, Portugal led by these Cardinals and Bishops that the Franciscans of the Immaculate helped arrange and which led to this new petition initiative.

Video – FiNews #11: Ten Franciscans of the Immaculate Ordained to the Priesthood

FI News #11 – A slide show of the recent ordinations of 10 friars. >>> Play

Ave Maria!

We are happy to announce that ten Franciscans of the Immaculate were ordained to the priesthood through the imposition of the hands of His Eminence Crescenzio Card. Sepe, Archbishop of Napoli on March 24, 2007 in the Church of St. Theresa of the Discalced, Naples. This is an incredible blessing to the order and the Church. As the saintly Don Donlindo Ruotolo put it, “The priest is a flower that has bloomed in the magnificence of the love of Jesus Christ … that shines in the splendor of his dignity and excels all others … a rose from the Immaculate Heart of Mary”

There were no Americans ordained this year but one of the ordained, Fra Agnelus from England, made his postulancy and novitiate here in America and several American seminarians were in the Church and are anxiously awaiting their ordination in just a few short years, after which they will be able come back and minster to us here.

Fra Bonaventure from Cameroon was ordained as well. Generous benefactors from the US paid for the plane tickets for his family to come and see his ordination. All those who contributed will be glad to see that they were, in fact, able to come. They stand out in their beautiful traditional African clothes, captured here in some of the slides.

The beautiful church is staffed by the FI sisters who also sang magnificently for the ceremony. Thank you, Jesus and Mary!!
